we publish all kinds of romance by the south asian diaspora We're open to all levels of heat, and want unique voices, chemistry, nuanced characters, and books that know exactly what they are. If there's a love story at its heart, we want to hear from you.
We love stories about identity and culture, and we also love meet-cutes, sagas with dragons, and newly born vampires vying to topple their hot overlords. Essentially, we believe South Asian writers should be free to tell whatever stories they want, without the weight of representation on their backs. Sometimes the stakes are generational. Sometimes the stakes are the fate of the world. Sometimes the stakes are that he is unbearably attractive and, unfortunately, her new boss. We think there’s room for all of it.
A quick note on what we don't publish:
We're romantics. It's sort of our whole thing. Markhor Press does not publish horror, fetish-focused fiction, or stories centred on sexual violence, abuse, or shock for shock's sake. A good rule of thumb — if the love story could be removed and the book would carry on just fine, we're probably not the right home for it.
TL;DR: We’re open to contemporary, historical, fantasy, paranormal, romantasy, and more (surprise us)
