The markhor is a wild goat native to South and Central Asia. Known for its horns and ability to navigate difficult terrain, it makes its home in steep, rocky landscapes and often spends long stretches of time in solitude.

We can relate. There is no single definition of a South Asian story, and finding a home for the stories you want to tell can be difficult. Markhor Press exists to build a home for writers of the South Asian diaspora to tell love stories as complicated, imaginative, and unexpected as they are.

We're an independent press, which means we have the freedom to be particular. We want to publish books we can champion fiercely, work closely with our authors to shape, and put into readers' hands with intention.

so, what's up with the goat?
